Bibby appoints FMG to keep vehicles moving like clockwork

One of the UK’s largest commercial vehicle fleets, Bibby Distribution, has signed a three-year contract with FMG to maintain service delivery standards in the event of vehicle breakdowns across Bibby’s supply chain and distribution operations.

The deal will see FMG provide 24/7 specialist Roadside Repair and Recovery Management services to 1875 HGV’s, large commercial vehicles and trailers. Businesses across the UK rely on Bibby’s fleet for the provision of road transport logistics solutions, operating round the clock and delivering specialist transport requirements including bulk liquids and powder distribution.

FMG, the UK’s leading fleet incident management and roadside services specialist, works in partnership with a UK-wide network of vehicle repair and recovery operators, fixing all types of stricken vehicles at the roadside. When a roadside repair isn’t possible or safe, FMG arranges the recovery of the vehicle and driver and onward shipment of its loads, specific to each fleet’s requirements.

Adam Purshall, Head of Fleet and Procurement at Bibby Distribution said, “We invest heavily in the best HGVs to provide a reliable fleet that has optimum operational utilisation, so it makes sense to partner with a leading recovery specialist to ensure our vehicles are covered for every eventuality. By forming this strategic partnership with FMG, we gain access to an established and proven network for both recovery and roadside repair capabilities, for every vehicle type, and the advanced skills, equipment and professional accreditations to provide efficient and effective solutions to meet all our foreseeable needs.”

FMG resolves over 90,000 vehicle breakdowns every year, operating on behalf of major private and public sector fleets. The company is also the vehicle recovery partner for Highways England, recovering vehicles from 5000 miles of motorways and major A roads across Britain, and the recovery partner of choice for a number of UK Police Forces, managing the recovery of vehicles that have been abandoned, stolen or involved in crime, as well as police vehicles.

Andrew Chandler, Sales Director at FMG said, “We look forward to supporting Bibby’s time-critical fleet and have worked closely together to ensure that recoveries can be co-ordinated as effectively and efficiently as possible. Whilst overcoming everyday breakdowns involving fleet cars, vans and commercial vehicles is the backbone of our business, we take every opportunity to identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities. We’ll analyse Bibby’s fleet data, identify improvements, and offer insight to deliver tangible, measurable cost-savings.”
