Abbott UK drive safety with FMG extension

With fewer serious fleet incidents and greater cost savings, global healthcare company Abbott has further extended its incident management and risk solutions contract with FMG. Abbott UK, the leading provider of breakthrough medical devices, nutrition and pharmaceutical products, has partnered with FMG since 2013 for the provision of an integrated risk and incident management solution for its company cars and grey fleet, resulting in forecasted savings of circa £220k per year.

The partnership ensures healthcare professionals have all the driver and vehicle support they need should they be involved in an incident when driving for work, including 24/7 incident reporting and repair management. But the focus has always been incident prevention and in the past 12 months FMG has introduced FMG INDICATE to give even greater transparency and insight to the risk within Abbott’s driving community, combining driving behaviour and incident occurrences to identify risk areas.

FMG INDICATE aggregates Abbott’s telematics and accident management data, creating one clear picture of risk within Abbott’s fleet. FMG’s dedicated risk solutions experts work closely with Abbott to identify and highlight risk within their driving community, recommending interventions including on-road and online driver training, workshops and proactive phonecalls to drivers to support safer driving practises. 2024 will see a roll out of more risk initiatives to consolidate the training FMG has already performed for Abbott with its highly successful EV awareness course which has enabled Abbott to pioneer the adoption of  solely EV vehicles in its fleet, with 62% of the fleet already having been converted from fossil fuel engines.

With risk mitigation central to the solution, additional data sources are currently being reviewed to provide even greater accuracy and drive further risk reduction strategies.
